The Proof of the Pudding is in the BEATING!
18th
May 1998 B5 GTT drove 200 miles to Santa Pod, 1st run of the day with a slight
'bogging' off the line achieved a 12.94 second 1/4 mile at 112 mph. 2nd run
achieved 12.642 seconds 1/4 mile at 112.96 mph. (road tyres) no more runs were
made and was then driven 200 miles back. Car not raced since. In the last two
years no other car has ever come close to our record. B5 GTT is now used as a
show car for both our performance and styling parts. As proof that we do not
generate bogus printouts (some do) we will in due course have the complete
action movie of the 12 second run on our web site. We are currently working on
'Project II' a road legal 1397cc GT Turbo that will run 11 second 1/4 miles -
completion date 2001!!
Ultimate Fast Car 1996
GT Tuning's No.2 demo car H4 GTT wins class with a 14.05 second standing 1/4 mile. Also quicker than the fastest in the next class up (i.e. Fiesta / Escort RS Turbo brigade.
MaxPower Group Thrash January 1997
The
GT Tuning demo car B5 GTT once again proved that no other companies' conversions
even come close when tested at Bruntingthorpe proving ground i.e. 2 people in
car, slightly uphill, wet and very bumpy track, our car completed 0-60 in 5.96
sec's. and standing quarter in 14.3 sec's. In comparison, another company's
Phase 7 demo car completed 0-60 in 7.04 sec's. (1.1secs. Slower), and standing
quarter in 15.6 sec's. (1.3* sec's. slower).
Also, although not printed in the magazine, their 0-100 mph time was 6 seconds
(yes 6!) slower. Equally as important our car performed with 100% reliability,
something which cannot be said of the competition that day.
Ultimate Fast Car 1997
Fastest FWD car was B5 GTT running a 13.34 quarter mile on a dampish track and a slipping clutch. David Kirk (H4 PWR), who, at that time, was a GTT customer (he now works at GT Tuning), was class winner with a 13.7 quarter mile. B5 GTT didn't qualify for a trophy as it is a tuner's car i.e. not a privately entered car.
PROVE IT MAXPOWER SEPTEMBER 1997
GT Tuning yet again proved that they can produce the goods when it counts. Recently in MaxPower we were asked to prove ourselves in a 'Triathlon' based challenge. We won on all three counts including an endurance challenge when we sustained 120 mph to 140 mph for a period of twenty minutes (ran out of time), with ultra cool running temperatures achieved. We also won the standing quarter mile, and Rolling Road Test at Wilcox Racing though we were unable to get a power output from the rolling road. A Wilcox rolling road technician said, "There's way too much power the front wheels just keep on lighting up. The car would have to go on a dyno-bench for a really accurate reading". And this was after weighting down the front end! GTT have produced more genuine BHP than any other tuner. Our new project car for 2001 will produce around 400 bhp (1397 cc engine)
Rolling Road Shoot-out February 1998
40 R5GT Turbos entered on the day. The cars which came first, second and third used 100% GT Tuning products. (These were customers' cars, not our demo cars)
Run-Wot-You-Brung 17th May 1998
GT Tuning set the record for the fastest ever Renault 5 GT Turbo with a 12.642 second 1/4 mile at 112.96 mph. The car (B5 GTT) ran road-legal tyres and also produced a 12.9 second 1/4 mile on the first run of the day (only 2 runs made). Also, not commonly known is that, David's car (H5 PWR) did fifteen 13 second runs that day with everything still in the car, i.e. all the seats, stereo, spare wheel and full cage. David's best run was 13.11, still the second best R5GT ever. Reliability and power!
Ultimate Street Car 1998
No classes were allocated this year, it being a 'free for all' event. B5 GTT was on display at the GT Tuning stand. So David went out and completed the fastest FWD of the weekend with another 13.1s 1/4 mile.
Group Thrash Max Power 1998
Quickest car was Kevin Brock's GT Tuning equipped car G825 NGK, completing a 13.49 second 1/4 mile, beating everyone including tuners running their own demo cars. It was also faster than the Nitrous powered R5GT Turbo there on the day.
Ultimate Street Car 1999
GT Tuning customer Danny Fennell beat all in the class with a 13.9 second 1/4 mile. Danny had never done it before, but has certainly got the bug now! The car now has even more mods. Inc. Roller Bearing Tubo, Cybercooler, GTT 2 1/2" Exhaust and GTT camshaft.
Rolling Road Shootout OCTOBER 1999 & April 2000
1st Stephen Rae GTT customer. Running exclusively GT Tuning performance parts.
Renault 5 Shootout Santa Pod February 2000
Open
to all-comers and all tuners. Dampish track, with around 50-60 cars turning up.
1st prize went to GTT customer Simon Pittard and
2nd prize went to GTT customer Kevin Brock.
Run-Wot-You-Brung Santa Pod 16th April 2000
Another mamber into 'the thirteen's' GT Tuning customer Ben Raynham produces a 13.42 standing start 1/4 mile. Well done Ben!
Ultimate Street Car 2000
GTT Customer John
Semple's car came in first with a very competitive 13.01second 1/4
mile at 113mph.
Second was another GTT customer Danny Fannell.
Third (joint) was yet another GTT customer Steven Rae.
yet again GT Tuning prove that no other companies' conversions even come close.
